I am not a Wall Street Journal internet subscriber, So I had to spend a little time finding the well written article by Suzanne Sataline, for The Wall Street Journal, but here it is. After reading both articles, where else can you put this piece. The Daily Journal Editorial Board erred by putting this on the Faith and Religion section. It should have been on the Financial section. See this very good article here. Market driven actions belong on the financial pages. Actions by those driven by power and self-righteousness should and can be found on the front pages of any newspaper. Those trying to find a spiritual enlightenment though the teaching of a very Humble Jew that lived 2000 years ago should look elsewhere.
I am just the son of a poor tobacco farmer and not too learned, but when I read about that Young Man, He did not like all that money business going on in places devoted to the worship of God. Matthew 21:12
“And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves,”
To those whose believe they have perfect insight to the Word of God I point to this, Matthew 22:23-33
“The same day the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to Him and asked Him, 24 saying: “Teacher, Moses said that if a man dies, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife and raise up offspring for his brother. 25 Now there were with us seven brothers. The first died after he had married, and having no offspring, left his wife to his brother. 26 Likewise the second also, and the third, even to the seventh. 27 Last of all the woman died also. 28 Therefore, in the resurrection, whose wife of the seven will she be? For they all had her.” 29 Jesus answered and said to them, “You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God. 30 For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels of God in heaven. 31 But concerning the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was spoken to you by God, saying, 32 ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.” 33 And when the multitudes heard this, they were astonished at His teaching.”
Would it not be nice if we could find a way to seek the teaching of Jesus Christ without letting money, property, prestige divert us from that goal?
